Why I Am Doing This
It did not take long after Trump's second election for the simmering anger to boil over in me. Your reason may be different than mine, but I know it is no less valid. There is just too much rotten low hanging fruit to pick from. My turning point was Donald Trump’s hostile reception of Zelensky during their first White House meeting. That moment shifted me from being an armchair quarterback arguing with the tv and social media and into someone who now seeks to participate more actively in our state and national political dialogue.
My career has spanned from small business to public education and academia. I have graduate degrees in economics and history. I am also deeply progressive. And is evident to me that even "conservatives" are progressive since they, too, have always reaped the rewards of the social advances that have truly made our country great.
This group represents a challenge to think creatively to thread the needle between a progressive message and traditional values. While this may sound like an oxymoron, it is actually an endeavor that holds high value.
Politics is the art of the message, after all.
Let us get together and find a path to push back against the hard forces of MAGA with equal fervor. The question is, what kind of message will it take?
